Make Your Life Better With Positive Self-Talk

The way you feel about yourself makes a really big difference in how you think about yourself. The thing is you can keep away from feeling down, or troubled if you know what to say to yourself and know the right way to say it. Even during hard times you can find moments of happiness and blessings to think about.

It does not matter what you want to do in your life because positive self-talk can help you achieve your goals, and desires. Having a strong Belief in yourself is a strong element of going forward into the life you really want and deserve to have. Positive self-talk can bring you this belief and implant within you the self-confidence to be successful.

Find the Beauty in Your Life

If you face serious obstacles in your life, being miserable and saying negative things to yourself will not change one thing for the better. What you need to do is seek out elation in positive affirmations of your continual worth.

The hard times you may be facing have totally nothing to do with your worth as a human being. Remember you always need to remind yourself of your great value!

Each of us has something that we can give to make the world a better place. That is why each of us has a purpose and reason to be on the earth. Positive self-talk is not about being naive or untruthful to yourself. It is about seeing the splendor and worth in yourself and in other people.

Making Use of Positive Self-Talk Each Day

The question is how do you make use of positive self-talk? When it comes to conversing with yourself, there are no precise rules. You can concentrate on anything about you or your environment that’s positive.

Make sure that you get rid of negative or upsetting thoughts at once. Things might not be going your way at any particular moment, but there are a lot of better days coming, and the fact that you’re existing is one thing to be positive about!

Some great tips to help you get started using positive self-talk to bring about a happy, fulfilled life:

1. Think about something others like about you. Try to think of a positive remark someone made about you in the past. Even if you can’t see why they gave you the compliment. Use it to your benefit to remind yourself of your great character and talents.

2. Think about what you like about yourself. You don’t have to think or feel (or even say) that you’re the best, but just think about one thing that you like about yourself. Something that you can accept about yourself. It could be something that you’re good at and are pleased about.

3. Say your affirmations out loud. Ok, you might feel a little bit foolish at first, but you don’t need to do it when people are around. Just say them out loud whenever you can. That way you can hear all the good things about you, too.

4. Set aside time each day to practice your positive self-talk. Remember if you don’t put it into your timetable, it’s very easy to forget about. Make it one of your main concerns, so it becomes a part of your daily habit.

The Benefits of Positive Self-Talk

What you get out of positive self-talk will depend on how much you’re committed to it. If you practice it each day, you’ll find when others say negative things to you they will be less likely to take root in your mind, because you’ll already be overflowing with positive information about your self-worth.

Positive self-talk can help you achieve whatever you want in life. Friends and family members will notice your new-found confidence, and so will your co-workers, employer, and others. You just may find that positive self-talk will lead you on the path to some wonderful new opportunities!

8 Sure-fire Ways To Help Build Your Self Confidence!

People are low on self confidence at various stages in life ; kids sometimes lose their confidence when they aren’t selected in the school athletics team, adults lose it when they do not make the promotion list and people sometimes lose their self image when they are not accepted into the right peer group. Self confidence can also suffer as a result of a low self image thanks to race, color and physical appearance. This article deals with a few ideas on how you could win some of that self confidence back.

1. Take responsibility of issues. It may not be a very big issue. It may be something as small as a household chore. But once you are successful in repetitively doing the task successfully, not only would you have helped around the house, you would have increased your confidence, and could then move on to gradually bigger chores and tasks.

2. Think positively. In any given situation, we have the choice to think positively or to think negatively. Negative thinking can only bring negative outcomes, and he who learns to think positively has half the battle won right there.

3. Make targets and achieve them. Set yourself a reasonable target and try your best to achieve it. As small as the task was, saying you will do it and then actually performing the task works wonders for your self confidence.

4. Talk to yourself. When you speak to yourself looking in the mirror every morning and give yourself a pep talk, you will see your self confidence grow day by day. This may seem conceited at first, but then the power of verbal encouragement is highly underrated. And if you aren’t getting it from others, you could well give it to yourself.

5. Stay away from stressful situations. This doesn’t mean you do not work at all. But then, there are situations that cause us unnecessary stress, like a certain group of people that seem to stress you out. Well, stay away from them.

6. Come out of your shell. That doesn’t mean you try and be the center of attention, that’s called conceit. Instead, try and make new contacts, talk to people at parties, and do not let yourself lie in a corner hoping someone else takes the initiative of speaking to you. Why not start the conversation yourself?

7. Stay healthy. When you feel good on the inside, it does reflect on the outside thereby helping your self confidence. So, eat a balanced diet and exercise when you must.

8. Help other people when they need it. If you are low on self confidence, help others grow theirs sometimes. You will be amazed when you see this encourage your own confidence, just by helping others.

The Winter Olympics 2010 And Public Speaking

The Winter Olympics 2010 And Public Speaking

Whether you are a fan of ski-jumping, ice dancing or downhill ski racing, an Olympiad is about man’s dream to become a sporting legend and smash individual records. The Vancouver 2010 Olympiad will be no different. So where does public speaking come into this? Rather a lot, as it happens.

It’s a little known fact that speaking was one of the original Olympic disciplines. The Greeks going back 2,500 years were the first to open educational establishments teaching rhetoric to those who would become its leaders, law makers and prominent citizens. If you were unable to stand up and debate your corner of the argument, there would be little opportunity for advancement in the Greek intellectual hierarchies.

For millions of people across the world, public speaking is a wonderful hobby that can have an incredible impact on your professional life. I started in IT training some 20 years ago and still enjoy the buzz of sharing my knowledge and skills with my students as ever. When I moved into speaking 10 years ago, I suddenly realised how much room there was for self improvement. Confidence allied to excellent vocal technique makes for a memorable training intervention (knowing your material inside out really helps speaking confidently).

When I became a member of my local speakers club it became clear that there were several areas in which my spoken technique could improve. For some years I had wrestled with the joy of fantastic feedback one week followed by some not so fantastic feedback the next. I could never work out why sometimes they loved me and sometimes they clearly did not.

It all came down to vocal technique and the very simple fact that: It’s not what you say, it’s the way that you say it.

Clearly, there would be weeks when I was highly motivated and brimming with enthusiasm for my subject matter and my attendees. There were other times when my vocal energy had clearly stayed at home. If you speak without belief, enthusiasm, sincerity or passion, you must make the assumption that everybody turned off some time ago. If you do not ally those attributes to varying your pitch, pace, pause and projection, it becomes a miserable event for your students.

Aldous Huxley once said, “There is only one corner of the universe that you can change, and that is your own.” An initial thought is that there is merit in his point, but as a trainer we have an amazing opportunity to influence positively your students for an ongoing period of time. The opportunity is to read between the lines of your subject matter, inject motivation and inspiration into each and every sentence. There are many ways to elevate your subject matter; try case studies, analogies, anecdotes and metaphors. Deliver your subject in the moment!

I would like to see speaking return to the Olympic programme. Would it not be marvellous to see the world’s best speakers battling it out on TV in front of five hundred million viewers? Why not? Would it not be wonderful if professional speakers earned the same type of money as its sports stars? Why not? Before I make it happen, I must first have that dream… the return of speaking as an Olympic event.
