Holiday Travel Tips When Traveling With Children

This is the time of year when many of us are packing up our bags and headed to one destination or another. Often times this means packing along children as well. For those of us who have traveled with little children, we know how stressful and uncomfortable this can be. So, if this is the time of year when we are supposed to be happy and enjoying theĀ  moment, how can we make traveling with our children run more smoothly? There are several ways that parents can keep their children occupied when traveling during the holidays; whether by car, plane, or train. Below, I will explain different ways that you can keep your children occupied while enjoying the travel time to your destination.

As an overview, music players, DVD players, video games, coloring books, crayons, and books are all great ways to keep children occupied when seated for a long period of time. All of these things are great for all ages as well. At no fault of their own, children can become restless during a long ride and they need something to do to occupy their attention. Often this is something that is already fun to them and that piques their interest.

Not only does keeping children occupied make the holiday travel time easier for parents, but the time also goes by more quickly for the children if their attention isn’t focused on whether we are there yet or not.
Music Players

When you are planning on traveling with all ages of children during the holidays, take some time ahead of the travel date to load some of their favorite songs onto a music player. If your children are older, they probably already have a music player loaded with songs of their own, but it is important to prepare one for younger kids as well. Being able to listen to favorite songs passes the time by more quickly as they look out the window and watch the scenery pass by. If you do decide to go this route for entertainment, make sure that each child is fully equipped with earphones and that they do not turn it up too high. Not only is this an entertainment option for the children, but it will keep them out of your hair as you travel.
DVD Players

Another great way for children to be occupied during long holiday travel excursions is bring along a portable DVD player, preferably one that attaches to the back of a head rest, so that the player isn’t being passed around and broken. Before traveling, load up a bag full of your children’s favorite movies and allow each of them to take turns picking a movie to watch. When the player is attached to a front-seat headrest, it allows each passenger to have a clear view of the screen. The great thing about movies is that most of them last between an hour and a half to two hours, and a lot of traveling can be done in that amount of time. It also gives children something other than time passing by to focus on.
Video Games

It may be worth it to invest some money into purchasing a hand-held video game system for your children. Allow your children to pack a few of their very favorite games, and you will be surprised at how much easier holiday traveling is when they are occupied with this. If it is a game with different levels, the kids will be occupied with beating the game and they will forget about the time that it is taking to travel to grandma’s house. If you only purchase one game system, but you have more than one child, make sure that equal time is given to each child. While one is playing a video game, the others can be listening to music, watching a movie, or coloring in a coloring book.
Coloring Books and Crayons

For children that are below the age of about seven or eight, coloring books are great ways to occupy their attention. Before traveling maybe head over to the dollar store and allow each child to pick out their favorite coloring book and a set of crayons so that they each have their own. This is an inexpensive way to prepare the children for holiday traveling. Children can color for long periods of time, so this is a great way to keep them entertained. As an added bonus, by the time you reach your destination your child may have many pictures finished to show off to family and friends and this will boost their self-confidence.
Books

For older children, make sure to pack along some good mystery and adventure books, or just their favorite book to read while traveling. When your child finds a good book, they can be enthralled for hours, which is great for you as parents. Reading is such a great way to take children on fun adventures and allows them to solve mysteries, discover new truths or beliefs, and find themselves surrounded by fantasy.

Whatever form of travel you take this holiday season, make sure you are prepared with many of these tips. The fun of the holidays will disintegrate if the children aren’t occupied during travel time. Not only is it important to make the holidays fun and bearable for the parents, but it is important to make it enjoyable for the children as well. By following these simple steps, you’ll find that you arrive at your destination feeling more relaxed and rejuvenated than when you left.

Gain Self-Confidence without Spending all Your Money

SELF-CONFIDENCE is a very big word. It spells the difference between getting that highly-coveted job, that much-awaited promotion (and consequent salary increase), drawing the right friends and yes, even in attracting – and maintaining – that elusive romantic relationship. Self-assurance is so important that many How to Gain Self-Confidence books, courses and seminars have been launched just so you can tap that ‘hidden power’ that is the key to life, love and happiness.

How to Gain Self-Confidence – Simple Ways to Unleash the Power Within You

Anybody can start gaining self-confidence and the great part is… even just simple changes can bring about monumental effects in your life. So check out our How to Gain Self-Confidence tips and start looking at yourself – and life – differently.

How to Gain Self-Confidence Tip #1: First impressions always last.

In just about every aspect of our lives, first impressions are really THAT important so learning how to gain self-confidence is paramount. So how do you go about improving the first impression vibe that you give off? Take a good, long, hard look at the person staring back at you from the mirror. Is it time for a make-over? This does NOT have to be expensive or drastic (like getting a facelift!). You’ll really be amazed at how a simple, new haircut can change your looks, improve the way you feel inside and thus enable you to exude self-confidence.

While still staring at the mirror, smile at yourself. Do you see self-confidence or insecurity because your smile is showing of chipped, gapped and/or stained or discolored teeth? Studies show that a person’s smile plays a major role in one’s self-confidence! So if you’re not happy with your smile, do something about it. If you have stained teeth, lucky you; an at-home tooth whitening kit is all you need to perk up your smile and it’s inexpensive too! If your needs are more drastic, then consider tooth bonding or having porcelain veneers made to boost your self-confidence.

How to Gain Self-Confidence Tip #2: To be successful you must portray an image of success.

We often hear the phrase dress for success but what does it really mean? You see, life is one big cause and effect. If you give out the ‘wrong vibes’, then you can expect nothing but the same in return. For instance, say you are after a promotion. The job entails that you meet with the company’s clients often. If you don’t ‘dress the part’, then your boss will not consider you because meeting clients automatically means you must be presentable at all times.

Dressing for success need not mean a complete wardrobe change. Instead, learn how to buy pieces of clothing that you can easily mix and match to create other ensembles that boost self-confidence. Just always remember the ‘image’ you want to convey and buy accordingly. If you’re in a complete loss, you can ask store representatives to help you or ask a fashion-conscious relative or friend to go shopping with you. Here’s another how to gain self-confidence tip – browsing fashion mags also help!

How to Gain Self-Confidence Tip #3: Speak with confidence… achieve self-confidence by improving your vocal power.

If you communicate with confidence, then the whole room will sit up and listen. Self-confidence needs to be a complete package. It’s not just about the clothes and the smile; you need to project a winning attitude and you must convey your self-confidence by the ‘power’ that should be heard in your voice. Seriously, have you ever heard a company CEO speak timidly? Don’t think so…

If you don’t have a voice that conveys self-assurance, here’s an inexpensive how to gain self-confidence tip for you: start recording your own voice. Do this in numerous scenarios such as when you’re talking to family and friends; talking on the phone; discussing with colleagues; and when conducting meetings or speaking in public. Listen to your voice and identify problems (e.g., mumbling episodes, dropping syllables, how do you sound? caring? in a hurry? disoriented?). Then, start collecting recordings of people you do admire (e.g., an interview by Donald Trump, news anchor tapes, etc.) and start modeling they way they talk!

The steps to how to gain self-confidence need not cost an arm and a leg. By paying more attention to your own actions and image, you can easily adapt small changes that can boost your self-confidence to a whole new level. Good luck!

Thank you For helping me!!!

Best answer:

Answer by Katniss
Start like this:
-start with how she was born, and how she got blind and deaf
-her years growing up with Ms. Sallivan
-Her determination to go to college
-Her ambitions to help the world for handicapped ppl.

What do other people say about her in the book and what does she do(actions) in the book???
If you are talking about what she did in her life, she was the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. also, she changed the world by making speeches about humanity all over the world.

I am confident thatshe was ambitious, determined and self – confident, because if she’s not, she wouldnt have tried to go to college(with all those sexists around) and change the world.

I am guessing this is your homework(am I right? ;D) and good luck on it!
